EiCLaR at AquaConSoil 2023-the special session
Two sustainability assessment case studies of enhanced bioremediation across Europe Paul Bardos, r3 environmental technology ltd gave an introduction to the EiCLaR project and an overview of the four technologies being developed: Electro-nanobioremediation (ENB), Monitored Bioaugmentation (MBR), Bioelectrochemical Remediation (BER) and Enhanced Phytoremediation (EPR). He explained the rationale for the sustainability assessment case studies; their purpose being to compare EiCLaR technologies with pre-existing alternatives on real sites. The[...]

Consortium meeting in Lyon, France, March 2023
A knock-on effect for the success of the EiCLaR project was achieved. European and Chinese partners met in person in Lyon, France, for the first time.
SERPOL and ECOTEREM field test
Enhanced phytoremediation aims to test the synergistic effect between (i) the action of plants to stimulate the development of a bacterial consortium capable of degrading organic pollutants, (ii) a biochar amendment (produced by pyrolysis of wood chips) to improve soil fertility and water retention, (iii) a mycorrhizae amendment to improve the symbiosis between plants and soil and stimulate the bacterial consortium, and finally (iv) electrokinetic support to provide oxygen and stimulate biological activity.
